A Mini-meadow Retreat

A desire for less lawn and the creation of a beautiful mini meadow was the prompt for this project. Installed over several years - the plan features a shallow swale with medina sandstone stepping stones planted with moisture loving perennials such as Hardy Hibiscus, Swamp Milkweed, and Cardinal Flower. Four apple trees anchor the meadow area and are accented by drifts of Tufted Hairgrass, Foxglove Beardtongue, Beebalm, and Dense Blazingstar. The new gardens are frequently visited by native bees, butterflies and are a home to a nest of baby bunnies.
